Licence Acquisition Procedure

How TO Obtain
Reconnaissance , Restricted Reconnaissance
Prospecting and Restricted Prospecting licence.

STEP 1

Submit Your Application

Once you have filled and gathered all the required documents you will have to submit it at the district office. It takes 5 days to review the application. The next 5 days is for notification of errors.

STEP 2

Publish In Gazzete

Once you have filled and gathered all the required documents you will have to submit it at the district office. It takes 5 days to review the application. The next 5 days is for notification of errors.

STEP 3

Stakeholders

21 days, stakeholders submit concerns about the application.

STEP 4

Commission Considers Application

30 days , the Commission considers the application and recommends to the Hon. Minister

STEP 5

Minister Takes Decision

Within 60 Days the Minister takes a decision on the application, the Commission considers the application and recommends to the Hon. Minister

STEP 6

Approval / Rejected

21 days notification to applicant and Fees payable if approved. Reasons are given if rejected.

STEP 7

Applicable Fees

Within 60 days, applicant pays applicable fees and gives notice of acceptance of the grant to Minister and Commission in writing.

STEP 8

Licence

Minister on proof of payment of applicable fees, issues licence to applicant within 30 days after the date of acceptance of the grant.

How to Acquire
Small Scale Mining Licence in Ghana

STEP 1

Submit Your Application

Once you have filled and gathered all the required documents you will have to submit it at the district office. It takes 5 days to review the application. The next 5 days is for notification of errors.

STEP 2

Submission To Mineral Titles Department (MTD)

10 days after registration, the district office shall submit the application to MTD. MTD review the application in 10 days and records it in the priority register

STEP 3

MTD Publishes In The Gazette

15 days after recording, MTD publishes in the gazette, notify chiefs, traditional authorities etc. through the Commission's District Offices.

STEP 4

Application Dossier

Within 10 days after publication, District Office shall submit application dossier to MTD for appropriate recommendation to Minister

STEP 5

Minister Takes Decision

Once you have completed these steps you are ready to start your business. You need to renew your license every three (3) years.

Within 60 days, applicant pays applicable fees and gives notice of acceptance of the grant to Minister and Commission in writing.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS FOR THE APPLICATION FOR RECONNAISSANCE AND RESTRICTED RECONNAISSANCE LICENCE
  1. Completed application form
  2. Certified copies of documents of incorporation that show the applicant is a body incorporated under the Companies Act, 1963 (Act 179) or the Incorporated Private Partnership Act, 1962 (Act 152) or under any other enactment in force,
  3. Certified copy of the company’s regulations and details of Shareholding and Directors
  4. Specify the size, number of cadastral blocks and the cadastral co-ordinates delineating the area being applied for (Site Plan)
  5. Particulars of the qualifications and experience of the Technical team in charge of the reconnaissance operations;
  6. Work programme describing the scope and type of the work to be conducted, including the expenditure on reconnaissance;
  7. Particulars of the financial resources available to the applicant for the proposed reconnaissance operations; and
  8. Provide evidence of payment of the applicable fees
  9. Cadastral search report
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS FOR THE APPLICATION FOR PROSPECTING AND RESTRICTED PROSPECTING LICENCE
  1. Completed application form
  2. Certified copies of documents of incorporation that show the applicant is a body incorporated under the Companies Act, 1963 (Act 179) or the Incorporated Private Partnership Act, 1962 (Act 152) or under any other enactment in force,
  3. Certified copy of the company’s regulations and details of shareholding and Directors

  8. Evidence of payment of the applicable fees
  9. Cadastral search report
  10. In the case of conversion from Reconnaissance to Prospecting licence, a certified copy of the Reconnaissance licence
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS FOR THE APPLICATION FOR MINING LEASE
  1. Completed application form
  2. Certified copies of documents of incorporation that show the applicant is a body incorporated under the Companies Act, 1963 (Act 179) or the Incorporated Private Partnership Act, 1962 (Act 152) or under any other enactment in force,
  3. Certified copy of the company’s regulations and details of shareholding and Directors
  4. Specify the size, number of blocks and the cadastral co-ordinates delineating the area being applied for (Site Plan)
  5. Particulars of the qualifications and experience of the Technical team in charge of the preparation of Feasibility Study Report;
  6. Feasibility Study Report to be prepared according to the Commission’s guidelines
  7. Particulars of the financial resources available to the applicant for the proposed mining operations
  8. Evidence of payment of the applicable fees
  9. In the case of conversion from a previous reconnaissance licence or prospecting licence, a certified copy of the licence
